Course Description

Alternative for Students not Attending Capstone 1 and 2

Students from certain countries (e.g. Pakistan and India) are not required to attend Capstone 1 and 2. In order to ensure that students who do not attend the Capstones are well prepared for the CFE, PASS is offering an Alternative Course.

The main focus of Capstone 1 is a group project which involves working on a business case which serves as a springboard for the case that is written on Day 1 of the CFE. Capstone 2 focuses primarily on writing old CFE cases, many of which are professionally marked.

The PASS Alternative Course will provide students with:

  1. The opportunity to write old CFE cases for all 3 days of the CFE. Students will write 2 Day 1 cases, 2 Day 2 Role cases and 8 Day 3 cases.
  2. Day 3 cases which will be professionally marked with copious constructive comments.
  3. The necessary knowledge of the case used in the Capstone 1 module, so that they are able to effectively write the CFE Day 1 case.  A live session on how to attack the Day 1 case will also be presented.
The course will run from the beginning of August until shortly before the CFE.

The CFE cases, solutions etc. used in this course are provided by CPA Canada.  Students can purchase this material directly from CPA Canada for $250.
